Facebook and LinkedIn Ads

Facebook Ads for Financial Advisors

We build Facebook ads for financial advisors around the proof many advisors still skip: client testimonials. The SEC Marketing Rule allows them with clear disclosures and oversight. Its compliance date passed in November 2022. We pair them with LinkedIn ads and helpful posts, inside Meta's limits on financial ads. Prospects see real client proof before they book a meeting.

Why It Matters

Why Facebook ads for financial advisors say so little

Decades of a testimonial ban taught advisors to market without proof. The ban ended, but the habit stayed. Many adviser ads still read like a brochure about philosophy.

Common Social Media Problems

Old Policies Still Block Testimonials

The advertising rule that kept testimonials out is gone. Some firm policies still date from before the change, so an internal document blocks what the SEC now allows.

The Age Slider Is Gone

The first idea for a retirement ad is to target people 55 and up. Meta limits age targeting on US financial ads. So the offer and the creative must find people near retirement.

The Ad Asks for a DM

A message us button feels friendly. But Meta bars US ads for investment products or deals that invite people to message you. A form or a booking page is the safer route.

Comments Turn Into Testimonials

Praise under your posts looks harmless. Delete the critical comments and keep the kind ones, and the SEC treats the rest as your own advertising.

Our Solution

Allowed, with conditions you can manage

Each testimonial carries a short note: client or not, paid or not, and any conflict of interest. The firm oversees the program, keeps agreements with paid promoters on file and screens out people the rule bars. Your compliance team approves it all once.

What changed, and what did not

The testimonial rule in plain words

The Old Ban

From 1961 the SEC advertising rule kept client testimonials out of adviser ads. A separate 1979 rule covered paid referrals. Most adviser habits come from that world.

The New Rule

The SEC adopted the Marketing Rule on December 22, 2020, and it replaced both old rules. Firms had to comply by November 4, 2022. The rule now allows testimonials and endorsements if you meet its conditions.

The Conditions

Say clearly whether the person is a client and whether you paid them. The adviser oversees the program. Promoters paid over $1,000 in 12 months sign a written agreement. And you cannot pay people with certain past violations to promote you.

What Did Not Change

Performance ads still face strict rules, such as showing net results beside gross ones. Cherry picking results is still out. The adviser still answers for everything said on its behalf.

Allowed with conditions, not a free pass

Anyone who says advisors can now use testimonials freely is overselling it. The answer moved from no to yes with conditions, and many firms never asked again.

Our Services

What we build for an advisory practice

First comes a testimonial program your compliance team can approve. Then Facebook and LinkedIn ads carry it, and posts fill the weeks between.

Testimonial Program Design

A written process to collect, disclose and oversee client statements. Your compliance team reviews it as a whole instead of approving each quote forever.

  • Disclosures built in
  • Oversight defined
  • Approved once

Testimonial Ads

Facebook and Instagram ads built on a client quote. The disclosure sits on the ad itself, where the reader sees it.

  • Disclosure on the ad
  • Client or not
  • Paid or not

Audiences Under Meta's Limits

No age, ZIP code or lookalike targeting. We use offers and short videos that draw the right people, then retarget the ones who engage.

  • Offer led
  • Video retargeting
  • Wider radius planned

LinkedIn Campaigns

For niches with job titles, like doctors, executives or business owners. LinkedIn treats ads for investment advice as restricted, so the same rules travel with them.

  • By job title
  • By company
  • Same disclosures

Policy Refresh

We read your marketing policy against the current rule. Some still repeat the old ban, which explains limits everyone assumed came from the SEC.

  • Policy read
  • Old wording flagged
  • Updated with counsel

Comment Policy

A neutral rule for removing swearing or illegal posts, used the same way each time. Nobody deletes criticism to make the praise look better.

  • Neutral rule
  • Applied evenly
  • Criticism stays
What You Get

What client proof does for your ads

Your ads stop being a statement of philosophy and become something a prospect can judge.

Your Ads Have Something to Say

A client describing what changed for them beats any line about your investment philosophy. For decades advisors could not put that in an ad.

The Policy Gets Fixed

Some firms still enforce a document written for the old rule. Finding that is worth the review on its own, whatever you decide next.

Compliance Reviews a System

One approved program with disclosures built in replaces a queue of single quotes. That keeps the review load small enough to last.

Paid and Unpaid Stay Separate

Paid promoters bring extra duties, like a signed agreement once their pay passes the rule's limit. Keeping them in their own lane avoids an easy mix up.

Targeting Works Without Age

An offer like a retirement income review draws people near retirement on its own. You reach the right households without the age setting Meta removed.

Education Fills the Weeks Between

Testimonials come in now and then. Explanations of rules and choices give you something to post and promote every week.

Our Process

Four weeks to your first testimonial ad

Four weeks. Nothing a client sees runs until your compliance officer has read the program on paper.

01Week 1

Read the Policy

We read your marketing policy against the current rule and flag any wording that still repeats the old ban.

  • Policy read
  • Old wording flagged
  • Current rule mapped
  • Compliance looped in
02Week 2

Design the Program

We write one process for how you collect quotes, label them, oversee them and screen promoters. Your compliance team approves it once.

  • Collection steps
  • Disclosure wording
  • Oversight written
  • Checks listed
03Week 3

Get It Approved

Your compliance officer and counsel review the program and the first ad drafts. If you work through a FINRA member firm, a principal generally approves each ad before it runs.

  • Program reviewed
  • Ads drafted
  • Approvals logged
  • Limits recorded

Run Ads and Education

Testimonial ads and helpful posts run side by side. We keep a copy of each ad and judge it by meetings booked.

  • Testimonial ads live
  • Ad copies kept
  • Weekly education posts
  • Meetings tracked

We Check Which Rule You Follow

Some firms still follow a policy written before November 2022. Finding that can be the most useful half hour of the work.

We Design for One Approval

Your compliance team signs off the whole program at once. That is what keeps it running in month six.

We Build Around Meta's Limits

No age, ZIP code or lookalike targeting, and no investment ads that invite DMs. The plan starts from what Meta allows.

We Keep Paid and Unpaid Apart

Paid promoters need more paperwork than happy clients. We run them as separate tracks with separate records.

We Keep Performance Claims Out

Performance ads carry strict rules, and nothing we build depends on them. That keeps the whole program on solid ground.

You Can Cancel Anytime

Month to month, no term. The program design and the policy notes stay with your firm whatever you decide.

What It Costs You

The ban ended in 2022 and the policy never caught up

A firm turns down client testimonials because its own policy forbids them. Someone wrote that policy for a rule the SEC replaced. Nobody in the building knows the limit they enforce is their own.

Platforms and limits

Two platforms, two different jobs

Meta counts investment services as a financial product. So US ads lose age, gender, ZIP code and lookalike targeting. LinkedIn lists ads for investment advice as restricted. It still lets you target by job title, which suits doctors, executives and owners.

What We Measure

Where Facebook ads for financial advisors fit among your channels

Advisory clients come slowly, often through people. They check you out with care before they move money.

Referrals Bring Names, Ads Bring Proof

An accountant or a client passes along your name. Testimonial ads and posts make the check that follows go well.

Search Catches People Already Looking

Someone searching for a fee-only advisor is ready now. Search ads and SEO meet that intent better than a feed does.

Facebook Reaches People Before They Look

A pre-retiree is not searching yet. A testimonial or a retirement income guide reaches them while they think it over.

LinkedIn Reaches the Niche

If you serve doctors or business owners, LinkedIn finds them by job title and company.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What advisors ask once they learn the testimonial rule changed.

Yes, inside Meta's financial products and services category. Anyone advertising investment services in or to the US must use it, and Meta has required it since January 21, 2025. It limits age, gender, ZIP code and lookalike targeting, and your compliance team still approves what runs.
